How long has Jay Hampton Tailors been in business?

We opened our first showroom at San Francisco's Union Square in 1963. Our tailor shop has been in business for 47 years. In 2000, we began exclusively serving our clients in the convenience of their homes, offices, or hotels.

Do you make women's clothing also?

Yes, we provide a full range of corporate suits, slacks, skirts and shirts for women.

How long does it take to finish an order?

You should expect a suit to be ready within 4 to 5 weeks of placing the order. Rush orders may be delivered within 3 weeks.

Are the suits made in the United States?

All of our suits are expertly hand-tailored to your measurements in the United States. We are not a Hong Kong tailor shop.

What are some of the custom features you offer for your suits?

We feature a grade 6 garment which is the highest quality workmanship, superior benberg linings, hymos, canvases, etc. Options include try-ons (intermediate fitting), fully lined garments with top grade lining, hand stitching, functional sleeve button holes, bone buttons, personalized name label and a complete range of lapel, vent, cuff, pleat and waistband styles.

What suiting materials do you offer?

Choose from hundreds of the finest Italian and English fabrics in 100% worsted wool, from super 80s to super 180s, tropical weights to heavy top coat weights. If you prefer a blend, please request that when you make an appointment.

What shirt materials do you offer?

We have an extremely wide selection of shirting materials ranging from the finest Sea Island and Egyptian cottons to practical washable blends.

Where are the shirts made?

Shirts are expertly hand-tailored in China. We are one of over a thousand dealers for this manufacturer in the United States. All shirt workmanship is 100% guaranteed.

What are some of the custom features you offer for your shirts?

We feature hundreds of material choices, from the highest end Sea Island cottons to the most affordable washable and wrinkle free blends. Your choices include 15 collar styles, 12 cuff styles and 15 monogram styles.

I have a favorite suit / shirt. Can you duplicate it?

Our suits and shirts are fully custom tailored – if you have your favorite suit or shirt that you want duplicated, we can tailor it to those garments.

I have some yardage of material from my last trip to England. Can you make a suit out of it?

Yes, but don't go out of your way to purchase material in advance of your appointment, because our fabric is typically less expensive than what you will pay at a retail fabric store.

Do you make other garments besides suits and shirts (for example, tuxes and topcoats)?

We offer a complete line of men's formal wear, including tuxes, dinner jackets, full tails, top coats, sports coats, single pairs of slacks, wing tip/pleated tux shirts and French cuff shirts. We also offer a complete line of women's custom garments (jackets, slacks and skirts) and women's shirts.

What are your store hours?

Our services are by appointment only during regular business hours and on Saturdays. Contact us to schedule a private consultation at your home, office or hotel.

What are your prices?

Because the fabrics, sizes, and styles vary significantly between garments, we are unable to provide specific prices until we know your exact needs. Be assured, however, that our prices are extremely competitive and among the best for high-quality custom tailoring. Also, discounts are generally given on multiple purchases. Scheduling an appointment is the best way to find out about pricing for your specific needs.

Do you have a showroom?

Because of the custom nature of our product, we do not have a showroom as you would in a retail store. There are several ways to view our collection: privately in your home, at your office, at a hotel, or by arranging a group event at your country club or corporation.

Do you do additional "try-ons" if needed as part of the delivery?

Yes, that is part of the service we can provide to our customers and included in the price. It typically adds two weeks to fulfill the order.

Do you charge for alterations due to fluctuations in weight?

We guarantee the fit of our garments when measurements are taken. Any increase in weight in excess of 15 lbs. may affect the fit, for which there will be a nominal charge.

How are clothes delivered?

We personally deliver all our garments to you and do any additional fittings at that time. If you are a repeat customer and would prefer a delivery by courier or mail, that can be arranged. All major credit cards are accepted.
